01. HOW FAR IS THE DUNES FROM WHANGAREI?
Approx 32 km / 35 minutes

02. WHAT AMENITIES ARE NEAR BY?
Matapouri - Local Store, plant nursery (with café) & art gallery.

Tutukaka - (approximately 10 minutes drive down the coast) Oceans Resort with bar restaurant, hair salon & beauty spa. Snapper Rock Café/restaurant & bar, Marina Pizzeria. Boat charters, sea kayaking, diving, game fishing and a Four Square Store.

Ngunguru – (5 mins drive from Tutukaka) has a Liquor Outlet, Takeaways, Store, Café, Surf Shop, Hammer Hardware, Hairdresser, Beauty Therapist, Golf Course and Club with Restaurant and Bar facilities. Medical Centre & Vet.

Petrol is available at Tutukaka. Boat fuelling at the Tutukaka Marina.

04. IS THERE A SCHOOL BUS?
Yes

05. WHAT SCHOOLS ARE THERE LOCALLY?
Primary in Ngunguru, all levels through to year 8. Matapouri zoned for Tikipunga High School in Whangarei.

06. IS THERE A BOAT RAMP AT MATAPOURI?
Boats up to about five and a half metres can be launched from the hard sand into the tidal estuary, tides permiting. Tutukaka has an all tide concrete boat ramp.

07. WHAT SORT OF WATER SPORTS OR OTHER RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES ARE POPULAR IN THIS AREA?
Fishing, boating, water skiing, diving, swimming, surfing, walking, biking, hiking and relaxing.

08. HOW FAR IS IT TO THE BEACH?
Down the ROW and over the sand dunes and you are there!

09. IS THE BEACH SAFE FOR CHILDREN TO SWIM?
This delightful crescent shaped beach offers both shelter and a gentle gradient from the beach to the water. Waves tend to be gentle and ideal for young swimmers. Please be aware there are no Surf Life Savers monitoring this beach.

10. WHAT IS THE NEIGHBOURHOOD MIX?
There are approximately 200 local residents with numbers swelling during both the summer and holiday periods.

11. IS THERE ANY PROBLEM WITH WATER DURING HEAVY RAINFALL?
The subdivision is sand based and free draining. To date there have not been any water pooling issues. Land levels been raised to be above flood levels thus meeting Council codes of compliance.

12. IS THE ACCESS PATH TO THE BEACH PRIVATE OR FOR PUBLIC USE?
Access to the beach from Galbraith Street to the beach is over the newly created Reserve.

13. WILL THERE BE GATES ACROSS THE ENTRANCE WAY?
Galbraith Street is a public road and therefore no gates can be put on the entry to the development.

14. ARE THERE ANY BUILDING RESTRICTIONS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS WHAT WE SHOULD KNOW?
There are very relaxed covenants that ensure all residential dwellings are well presented.
In brief – no temporary structures, nor any non-permanent or second hand building materials, all construction and landscaping to be completed within twelve months of commencement and reference is also made to construction materials for both dwelling and fencing. There is also reference to water tank height restrictions. Caravans and tents are permitted for one period not exceeding three months in any one year.

There are also covenants relating to wastewater treatment. Covenants available on request.

15. HAS TITLE BEEN ISSUED ON EACH SITE YET?
Titles are expected to be issued early in the New Year.

16. WHO MAINTAINS THE ROAD AND ROADSIDE?
This is a local Council responsibility.

17. WHAT COUNCIL /LOCAL AUTHORITY HAS JURISDICTION?
Whangarei District and Northland Regional Councils

18. WHAT SERVICES ARE ALREADY IN PLACE?
Power and telephone and waste water reticulation from the sections to the treatment plant.

19. IS IT CITY OR TANK WATER?
There is no reticulated water in Matapouri. Some people may be able to put bores down. Application for this should be directed to the Northland Regional Council.

20. WHAT IS THE SYSTEM FOR SEWAGE?
Protecting the special character and environment at The Dunes has been of paramount importance in the development of this subdivision. That is why a high-performance, state-of-the-art wastewater system has been used to deal with the sewage from the entire subdivision. It is the responsibility of the land owner to install their own tank (supplied by Innoflow), the out flow from which is piped to the main Treatment Plant.

This sewage system is a monitored wastewater collection system from ‘Innoflow Technologies Ltd’. Details provided on request. www.innoflow.co.nz
